Painting a tree in watercolor is a great way to practice before you can paint a forest or landscape. The shape of the tree is very diverse; therefore, when we learn how to draw a tree, we must know the characteristics of the type of tree that we want to draw. In the tutorial below, the painter completes the big tree step by step with watercolor.

Necessary Materials

You can go to your local art materials supplies to choose the materials that best suit your budget.

Paper: Arches Cold-press 300gsm; Brush: Detail Paint Brush; Color: Olive Green, Cadmium Orange, Sepia, Burnt sienna, Hooker’s Green

8. Paint the several branches among the leaves all over the tree. Finish the work by finalizing the form of the leaves on the left; then, adding small touches of green all over the treetop to express the areas of light and shadow.

NOTE
Remember that each kind of tree has its own specific shape and color that differentiate it from the rest, so the mixture of colors and different hues is basic when it comes to painting them.
